This is the last known photo of Ginny, taken six days before her death. She would not like this picture because her hair and makeup were not their best. But it's the perfect image to reflect the love and concern of a daughter for her elderly mother.

Having A Good Laugh
Photos of the complete Seybold family are rare, because my father was usually taking the pictures. But here are a few shots from 1970, when Dad was testing a new 35mm camera with a self-timer. These photos had not been seen for over 40 years, until my sister-in-law Laurel Sharmer found the original snapshots that we had sent to her.
In these photos, Tina is near her 9th birthday; Bobby has just turned 12, and Ron is looking like a new teenager at 13. Bob is 43 and Ginny is 44 years old.

Who's In The Dog House?
This photo of Ginny (circa 1976) reveals an infamous bit of family lore. In the background, you'll see "The Dog House." This souvenir item that Ginny purchased on a family vacation featured a handful of wooden dog placards and an empty spot in "the dog house."
Each child (and our father) had a dog with their name, and the joke among Ginny's kids was that her dog house was never empty, and everyone took a turn occupying it at one time, even long after plaque disappeared.

A Mother's Day Memory
This Polaroid shot was sent to son Ron as a "Thank You" for his Mother's Day gift to Ginny in 1977. It marked the last time that she would celebrate Mother's Day as a married woman -- our father died in March 1978.

The Cook And Hostess
It's 1973, and Bob is behind the camera to capture these shots of Ginny at work in the kitchen and then enjoying a meal with Tina, Ron, and his girlfriend Sue Balish.

The Family at The Falls
This is Ron, Ginny and Bob on a 1960 visit to Niagara Falls. Perhaps we looked a bit sullen because we were chafing from those harnesses, complete with hand straps, that were a safety measure to prevent two little boys from darting over the edge and into the watery chasm.

Celebrating The Graduate
After returning to Toledo, Ginny was able to experience some special days in the lives of her family. Here, she is with granddaughter Megan in May 2010 as she graduates from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

The Young Mother
Here's the earliest picture that we have of Ginny as a mother. Her son John shown here was born in October 1943, so this is probably late Summer or early Fall of 1944, when Ginny was 18 years old.

Strike a Pose!
Most people think it's the Seybold side of our family that has the oversized "ham-bone," but Ginny wasn't averse to having some fun in the spotlight, either. Here's one of the first photos taken of her after she returned to Toledo in 2010, when grandaughter Megan raised her camera and simply said, "Grandma, strike a pose!"
Her Life And Times
Virginia "Ginny" Seybold was born in 1925 at her home in Toledo, Ohio. Ginny was married to John Gabenski and Robert E. Seybold and raised three sons and one daughter -- John Gabenski, Ronald Seybold, Robert C. Seybold, and Tina (Seybold) Mockbee. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and their infant son Nicholas.
In 1986, Ginny sold her home in Point Place and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where her son John and sister Carrie Halpern lived. In 2010, she moved back to Toledo and became a resident of Franciscan Care Center of Sylvania, where she passed away on April 26, 2013.
